High shine nail color was a consistent theme at the Fall Shows. The models walked the runway in the Chanel show wearing polish also by Chanel in Peridot, a unique shimmery moss green shade. Narciso Rodriguez models wore Deborah Lippmann’s Stormy Weather which would be a great alternative if you love dark shades and are still stuck on OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark. At 3.1 Phillip Lim the models wore CND’s shade, Desert Suede, which would be great for that girl who loves neutral polish and is still wearing Essie’s Ballet Slipper or Limousine. At Jason Wu’s show models wore CND’s Gold Chrome, a shimmery shade of gold perfect for the Holidays. I’m crazy about all of these shades and think they are perfect for Fall/Winter.

The Met Ball is fashion’s biggest night out. This year’s event, on Monday night, celebrated the opening of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty which showcased the late designer’s brilliant work. The event took place against a backdrop of the museum decorated like an English Garden with towering trees and hedges sprouting from the halls, pots of roses and peonies, heather and wildflower lining the staircase and shimmering votives on rustic wood tabletops. Florence + The Machine performed and guests included everyone from Rock Royalty Sir Paul McCartney to NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
While most red carpet events center around an award such as the Oscars, the Met Ball is all about fashion. The stars take this opportunity to push the fashion boundaries in a way they may not do at a more conservative award show. It’s always fascinating to see what everyone chooses to wear.
Some of the nights best dressed stars included Beyonce and Gisele Bundchen in Alexander McQueen, Rihanna in Stella McCartney, Jennifer Hudson in Vera Wang, Ashley Greene in Donna Karen, Kristen Bell in a one shoulder, golden Tory Burch, Taylor Swift in a stunning J. Mendel, Emma Roberts looked effortlessly chic in Michael Kors, Diane Kruger wore a gorgeous design by Jason Wu and fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld’s date Blake Lively wore a dress by, you guessed it, Chanel.

This Sunday the biggest stars in the world gathered for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. Second to the nominees, fashion is on the forefront of everyone’s mind as this is THE red carpet event of the year.
Mila Kunis, nominated for her role in Black Swan, wore a gorgeous lavender Elie Saab gown. Michelle Williams, nominated for her role in Blue Valentine, wore a classic white beaded Chanel Haute Couture gown which she accessorized with Harry Winston jewels and Jimmy Choo heels. Jennifer Lawrence, nominated for Winter’s Bone, wore a red Calvin Klein Collection dress made just for her. Hailee Steinfeld, nominated for her role in True Grit, wore a pleasantly age-appropriate Marchesa gown. Mandy Moore, who performed at the event, wore a beautiful Monique Lhuillier gown.
Halle Berry in a form fitting Marchesa; Hilary Swank in Gucci; Gwyneth Paltrow glowed in Calvin Klein but it was Reece Witherspoon who stopped the show in a classic Giorgio Armani Prive’ gown. The looks were glamorous; the styling understated and elegant.
As for the night’s big winners, the awards for Best Supporting Actress went to Melissa Leo, Best Supporting Actor to Christian Bale, Best Actress to Natalie Portman, Best Actor to Colin Firth, and Best Movie went to The Kings Speech.

I recently spotted Chanel’s nail color shade, Particuliere, in Saks. It’s exactly the shade I’ve been searching for! I excitedly asked the saleswoman if they had that shade in stock and to my very pleasant surprise they had one bottle left!!! I couldn’t buy it quick enough and had my nails polished in Particuliere the following day. I’m getting tons of compliments on the color and think it’s the perfect taupe for spring. I finally have an alternative to my other all time favorite colors, Essie’s Limo-Scene and OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark. While googling the color to find a great image of the bottle, I came across listings for the polish for sale with some asking up to $70 for a bottle! But I have a feeling that you can still find this shade in one of your local department stores and if not, others online were selling it for a more reasonable $24, which is still a lot for polish, but not so bad if it brings you the kind of happiness mine has for me.

The day after a big award show like the Golden Globes, I love to read all the fashion recaps online. I wanted to share my six favorite looks from the Golden Globes. Emily Blunt in Dolce and Gabbana with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, Cameron Diaz in Alexander McQueen, Maggie Gyllenhaal in RM by Roland Mouret, Diane Kruger in Christian Lacroix with Chanel jewelry, Anna Kendrick in Marchesa with Cartier jewels, and Olivia Wilde in Gucci with Tiffany jewelry. I thought everyone looked great but these were my personal pics. Who did you think was the Golden Globes best dressed?
